Preparatory Course in Electrical Engineering
The Department of Theoretical and Industrial Electrical Engineering at FEEI TU Košice offers an intensive Course in Electrical Engineering taking place on 1–5 September 2025. The 20-hour course is designed to fill in knowledge of electrical engineering for graduates of various types and levels of secondary schools. It is recommended especially for graduates of non-electrical-engineering schools. Completing the course can help with successfully passing the Basics of Electrical Engineering course in the winter semester and the Electrical Engineering course in the summer semester of the 1st year of study, as well as related courses in following semesters.
Course fee: €55
The first meeting of participants, together with the opening lecture, will take place on 1 September 2025 from 13:15 to 16:45. On subsequent days the course will run from 8:30 to 12:00. The whole course will be held in lecture room P25 (Letná 9, B-block, ground floor). The practical part will be carried out in small groups (a maximum of two course participants per group).
Topics covered (selection): Direct-current (DC) ideal and real voltage and current sources; circuits of passive components (resistor, inductor and capacitor) with DC sources; Ohm’s law; analysis of electrical circuits — Kirchhoff’s 1st and 2nd laws; current and voltage dividers; the direct application of Kirchhoff’s laws; demonstration of the use of an oscilloscope in circuits with DC and AC sources. Please bring a calculator, a notebook and writing equipment to the course.
Participants of the Electrical Engineering Course will be given priority accommodation at the Jedlíkova 9 hall of residence on Monday 1 September 2025 from approximately 10:00, based on a name list provided by the course guarantor. The condition is that you must already be registered in MAIS and bring all required paper documents.
